Collecting Data and Comparing Attributes

We have begun to look at collecting data, or gathering information that will tell us something. When I asked the children "What will someone know if they look at our eye chart?" some of the answers were "how many eyes in the classroom" and "what color our eyes are." We talked about "skip counting" and discovered that there are more eyes than children in our room, and when we drew pictures of our families and counted up body parts like fingers and toes the numbers got really big! We drew our self portraits, and will use them to group ourselves by similar attributes.

Until next time,
Michele
